What’s Next for the Action Plan for R&D?

The Action Plan for R&D is closely linked to organisational development, with a key focus on how we work together in research and development.

The action plan had a consultation deadline of Monday, 1 December, and it will be adopted during the spring.

Interconnected

The Action Plan for R&D cannot be adopted in isolation. The content of such a plan is closely tied to how we organise academic sections and R&D centres, how we define and clarify the roles of centre directors, programme leaders, and academic section leaders, and how we structure work processes and routines within research, pedagogical, and artistic development (R&D) at NMH. All of these are important topics in the organisational development process.

The action plan will be aligned with the organisational process and the consultation feedback received, and it will be adopted by the R&D Committee in June.

On the process

Consultation feedback

Twelve consultation responses were received from academic sections, the DRU and KUST committees, trade unions, and the administration.

Among the feedback, certain themes recurred – including questions about resources and support, pedagogical development work, and international collaborations.

Other topics included how R&D projects are anchored within academic environments, their connections to strategic priorities, documentation and sharing, and issues around privacy and ethics.

Next steps

The R&D Committee will work on finalising the plan following a phase in which the Principal and Director are involved in incorporating consultation feedback.

The big task

A key focus moving forward is determining how NMH can achieve greater predictability and better conditions for planning, conducting, documenting, sharing, and disseminating R&D activities.
