Do you notice that the student:
- is struggling with painful and sad thoughts, is tired and exhausted, or has lost their zest for life?
- experiences anxiety and distress?
- is unable to function due to burdens or stress?
Are you concerned about how a student is doing? Or is the student signalling a need for help? Here is an overview of the support system.
Do you notice that the student:
You can schedule a time with the student's student contact for further follow-up.
The student contact is a contact person in the administration and can be a good conversation partner about practical matters, study completion, and other questions. The student contact is not a psychologist but can advise on further follow-up..
The Student Welfare Organisation in Oslo (SiO) offers various mental health and counselling services. You can inform the student about these.
If you/they are unsure whether a counsellor or psychologist is the best option, it is recommended that you start with an appointment with a counsellor.
If you are seriously concerned about a student's mental health, you can, together with the student's student contact, call and consult anonymously with the Social and Mobile Acute Service (SSA) at the Emergency Medical Service in Oslo at 23 48 70 90.
They have 24-hour phone reception and can, in severe cases, visit the student at home to assess their health situation. Alternatively, you can contact the District Medical Officer in the district where the student lives and send a concern report.
