-

Are you considering applying for a PhD position and admission to the PhD programme in Music Research at NMH?

The Doctoral Committee invites you to a digital information meeting Tuesday 16 December 2025 at 11:00-12:00 local time.

Content

In this meeting, we will present the PhD programme topic by topic, year by year. The PhD programme comprises three subject areas, but in this meeting, we will focus on what applies to all:

  • Which courses does the programme consist of
  • Organisation of the programme
  • The application process
  • Admission requirements
  • Lannguage requirements in English and Norwegian
  • What NMH offers the PhD candidates
  • What NMH expects from the PhD candidates

Registration

Please send an email to phdprogram@nmh.no by 12 noon the day before if you have particular questions we need to prepare for.

There is a similar meeting held in Norwegian at 12:15-13:15

Other offers for applicants

The Doctoral Committee (DRU) is responsible for the PhD programme. DRU's offer to applicants therefore focuses on what is common to all applicants to the programme, regardless of the subject area of the research project. Subjects, organisation and admission requirements are the same for everyone. Similarly, the requirements for the project description and what makes it eligible for funding are the same for everyone.

In addition to the information meeting described above, DRU organises a workshop on writing a project description. This event will be held physically at NMH and requires registration and some text preparation. The workshop is advertised in the FoU-calendar

The research
centres can provide subject-specific advice. See the FoU-calendar for offers from the centres. In addition, you can also contact the research centres for questions related to, for example, priorities in the announcement. They can also refer you to colleagues who can provide advice on development of the project.
