Internal concerts and other events

By internal concerts and events, we mean simpler concerts and events that are not publicly accessible. The events are normally only for participants affiliated with NMH, but external participants may also be personally invited. Examples of these types of events are rehearsal concerts, class concerts, research presentations, academic seminars and the like.

Internal concerts, like public concerts, should be booked and agreed upon through NMH production, to ensure that we are familiar with the activities taking place in the house with regards to safety and preparedness.

Do you want to hold a concert on your main instrument, in a group, or just try out something with some fellow students? You book a time and carry out the concert entirely with your own resources. Rehearsal concerts are intended for students and are an available opportunity for all students in performance subjects, including composition students.

You can book internal rehearsal concerts in the concert halls at NMH at predefined, available times in Lindemansalen, Levinsalen, and Sandvoldsalen. You carry out the concert without assistance from NMH. If there are available times beyond the pre-booked ones in the following month, these can potentially also be booked for a rehearsal concert.

You can also hold an internal rehearsal concert in other rooms at NMH, as long as you follow the routines and guidelines as described below.

Employees can invite to internal concerts related to their activity and research at NMH. The same rules apply to employees' internal concerts as for students' rehearsal concerts. Contact head of production Lars H. Kurverud to book and arrange an internal concert.

We aim to facilitate as efficient use of the halls as possible and make room for more class concerts in total so that as many people as possible can carry out what they need and want.

The Concert Committee has recommended guidelines for planning and programming class concerts:

• Class concerts should be carried out within set time frames, and with a duration that allows for two class concerts in the same hall on the same evening – one at 6pm and one at 8pm.
• In practice, this means little or no preparation time in the hall right before the concert starts and limited concert duration to a maximum of 90 minutes in total.
• Preparations must take place in another room or at another time in the hall by agreement.
• As a general rule, class concerts are carried out as internal events, meaning that they are not publicly announced and do not receive dedicated follow-up from production.

Class concerts can in practice still be requested at all available times/dates, and can also be booked at times reserved for "rehearsal concert" for students.

Class concerts with a profile

It is still the case that class concerts with a clear concert profile (title, description, concept and the like) can be treated as a regular concert in the program with more time in the hall etc. The condition is that the concert is reported in the main season reporting.
