Students found inspiration in Valencia

Maria Løddesøl and Renate Bergersen Søisdal are trying out new travel tubas.

At the end of June, the tuba and euphonium class from NMH travelled to Valencia, Spain, to attend ITEC – the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference.

700 Tuba and Euphonium enthusiasts

Together with 700 tuba and euphonium enthusiasts worldwide, the students enjoyed concerts, seminars, masterclasses, and the opportunity to try out new instruments.

Prize

Our student Emil Rademacher Krogsæter won second prize in the international solo competition held during the conference. He was in the first year of a bachelor's degree in tuba at NMH.

Concert with Grieg arrangements

The class was invited to present a chamber music concert featuring Norwegian music. Anna Baadsvik had arranged Grieg's *Holberg Suite*, and euphonium teacher Hans Andreas Kjølberg created a humorous version of Grieg's *In the Hall of the Mountain King* for the group.

Masterclass

In addition to the well-received concert, the class participated in a masterclass at the Valencia Conservatory. Hans Andreas and I were also invited to give a masterclass at the same school as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

– The trip was a success – both academically and socially.
