Streaming Services: Be Conscious and Use the Library

An abstract photo of lines and dots, squares and dashes of colour.

Many of us have noticed stricter times in the music industry. Recently, several media reports have highlighted how artists and creators are experiencing low earnings from streaming services and declining revenues in the concert market, threatening the income basis for our artists.

Investigate the terms

We at the NMH management encourage students and staff to investigate the terms of their various services and make an informed choice in solidarity with artists' income and working conditions. There are multiple websites where you can check the earnings and terms offered by different streaming services.

Seek credible information

We also urge students and staff to seek credible information, form their opinions, and participate in the debate on artists' rights and livelihoods. The Norwegian rights organisations TONO and GRAMO can also be used as sources of information and advisors on matters concerning copyright and earnings.

Most importantly, we encourage everyone to use our library!

The library offers several streaming services

The library offers many CDs and several streaming services from Naxos, electrothèque, and MediciTV. These services provide various genres within classical and jazz in audio and video formats. Here, you can stream content without advertisements.

To navigate in the library catalogue

To navigate the CD collection, search the library catalogue, Oria. You can filter by "CDs" under material type in the options on the right.

These options provide many opportunities to bypass commercial services and find high-quality materials.
