Performance productivity: Four new issues of Music & Practice

Cameron Carpenter's queer art of the organ is a topic in one of the articles in Music & Practice vol. 6

The open peer-reviewed journal Music & Practice, of which NMH's Erlend Hovland is editor-in-chief, has published four new issues.

In July 2018, NMH organized a major international conference, Performance Studies Network with around 100 contributions, led by Darla Crispin. The quality and breadth of the contributions was impressive and Crispin decided to have it permanently documented.

Jeremy Cox was hired as a guest editor in Music & Practice and has now edited three issues, volumes 5, 6 and 7. The latest has also been published in NMH's portal on the Research Catalogue. Together, these publications show how important and vibrant artistic research is today. The presentations range widely in form and content, and come from literally, the whole world.

Beethoven 250

Music & Practice barely made it. Despite the covid-19 pandemic, the journal published an anniversary issue for Beethoven this Christmas. Here you will find good articles written by leading researchers and practitioners such as Bart van Oort, Esteban Buch, Paulo de Assis, Sebastiaan Kemner, Anneke Scott and Carolyn Watson. Conclusion: Beethoven is probably dead, but not our commitment.
