The textbook “Praktisk intonasjon for blåsere” received excellent reviews when it was first published in 2009 and has been out of print for several years. The book has now been released in a revised edition – available in both Norwegian and English versions – this time as an open-access PDF, optimised for tablets.

The book “Praktisk intonasjon for blåsere” (Practical Intonation for Wind Players) is designed to be read, but it is also essential to play the exercises as you progress through the book.
Target Audience
The book is aimed at wind players, instrumental teachers, conductors, ear training educators, and students training for these professions. It is intended to complement the intonation skills developed through instrumental practice and musical collaboration by focusing on listening strategies and perspectives drawn from music theory, acoustics, and perceptual psychology.
The Exercises
Through 80 exercises accompanied by explanatory texts, users can explore and benefit from phenomena such as beats and difference tones. They will also gain experience and understanding of factors that influence the perception of intonation, such as overtones, timbre, balance, and chord progressions.
Another publication by Bergby
The digitisation and online availability of another book, “Øre for musikk. Om å undervise i hørelære” (Ear for Music: On Teaching Aural Training, 2016), is also just around the corner. Anne Katrine Bergby co-edited this book with Hilde Synnøve Blix from UiT.
