Agreement between Notam and NMH

NMH and Notam have recently entered into a collaboration agreement that makes Notam's facilities available for FoU projects and study-related projects where NMH'n premises and facilities are insufficient.

Notam (Norwegian Centre for Technology, Art, and Music) is for those working with art, music, and technology. Its primary focus is supporting creative work in the free field. Notam has programming, electronics development, research, sound engineering, and art expertise. The Norwegian Academy of Music is one of Notam's founders.

Provides Opportunities

Access to Notam is academically and technically crucial for employees' FoU work and PhD candidates in artistic development work. We can also use the agreement during project weeks for various student groups where Notam's facilities are crucial for the project's completion.

The agreement aims to formalise the collaboration and encourage NMH's employees, PhD candidates, and students to become part of Notam's environment by utilising Notam's facilities and resources.

From the agreement text

Strengthens the Development of Common Fields

The agreement states: "Many artists move back and forth between freelance work and being a student or employee at NMH. They also navigate between the different economic spheres of the free field and the education sector. Notam is funded and priced for the free field; this agreement makes it possible to offer Notam's facilities and services without conflicting with Notam's funding and purpose. The agreement will facilitate simpler processes for individual artists and increase the exchange of ideas, experiences, and questions at an overall level."

The agreement is particularly significant for the experimental field from a broader perspective.

About the agreement

Who Can Use the Agreement?

PhD candidates in artistic research are the first group to have the opportunity to utilise the agreement. The idea is that employees with FoU roles and specific student projects can also be allocated time in project rooms, studios, and workshops.

2025 is a trial year during which we will monitor requests and needs to develop the agreement further for the coming years.
