Staff Assembly January 2025

Staff Assembly in January will be organized around the main intentions of the new strategy, NMH moves (NMH beveger)! We will look closer at how music can be highlighted as an essential force in society and how we at NMH can improve exchange and cooperation, internally and with other parties. We will also discuss how we can increase diversity among students and employees and create new while preserving the traditions the school is based on - in several genres.

In other words, how can we ensure broad recruitment and continued legitimization of music as a societal element in itself? How can we uphold music, art, and culture as an important factor in solving society's major challenges?

Are we actually well organized at NMH to solve the challenges that are coming? How can we develop an even better cooperative culture with good frameworks, creativity, and high artistic intelligence?

We will have presentations from the director of the Oslo Philharmonic, Knut Skansen, information about the political work in the management and contributions from several colleagues in the form of professional input, panel discussion and, not least, artistic contributions. And, of course, there will be a good lunch, lively coffee breaks and rewarding gatherings as usual!

Theme: Tradition, quality and recruitment

• 11:00–11:40: Recruitment to classical music - what do we do? Introductions and conversations with John Vinge, Kjell Tore Innervik and Camilla Sønstabø Thorkildsen. Moderator: Astrid Kvalbein.
• 11:40–12:00: About accompaniment as a support subject and teaching in collaboration around the student. Examples and conversations with Lina Braaten and others.
• 12:00–12:10: Music: Zoi Efsthatiou.
• 12:10–12:30: Fetch lunch, break
• 12:30–13:30: Group discussions

Theme: Creativity and development across academic environments

• 13:30-13:40: Break/back to Levin Hall
• 13:40–13:50: Music: Bjørg Lewis and several cellists.
• 13:50–14.15: About organization evaluation spring 2025, by Kristel Skorge.
• 14.15–15:00: Panel discussion on academic and administrative cooperation. Introduction by Cathrine Nymoen Dorg.
