CEMPE Talks #9: A queer perspective on life as a musician

How is the representation of queers in the Norwegian music and arts scene? Centre for Excellence in Music Performance Education (CEMPE) invites audiences to this CEMPE Talks during NMH on a queer. Lunch included!

Can you build your career on being a queer musician, or should your identity be kept separate from your artistic work?

Are there genres more open to queerness? Can you use music as a tool in the process of finding your own identity and a better understanding of yourself?

This and more will be discussed during the NMH on a queer special.

The panel consist of:

  • Ruth Eckhoff
  • Bendik Giske
  • Julie Falkevik
  • Sidsel Karlsen

Moderator: Annie Eline Lundgreen

We wish students and faculty welcome, whether you are straight, gay or something in between.

Lunch is included!

This year, 2022, it has been 50 years since homosexuality was decriminalised in Norway. This will be marked all over the country, and at NMH, we will have a marking and celebration from 1 to 6 November in week 44.

The week is named "NMH på skrå" and will be filled with concerts, conversations, and social events. Warmth, tolerance, diversity, humanity and freedom will be in focus this week, and the concerts will present a spectrum of genres, composers and performers

That you can be who you are, concerns all of us. Join the celebration and save the dates. You don't want to miss this.
